MARCHES PETANQUE
LINKS
| |
The Seven Stars Petanque Club first saw the
light of day in 1992 and, along with five other 'new' clubs that year, formed
the world famous Marches Petanque League. There are now 21 teams in the MPL.
The Club is situated a short walk from the village of Clehonger which in turn is
little more than a boules throw from the City of Hereford - about three miles
actually.
A small and friendly club who, when sober,
play their Marches Petanque League matches on Wednesday evenings throughout the
summer months. The Stars also play in the Winter League and the annual
Beeline Trophy knock-out competition.
Around the end of May each year, (mostly) the
Stars, along with boule players from various parts of Britain, travel to the
south of France to do battle (and bottle) with our French friends. A good time
is always had and it's our ultimate ambition to eventually give Pierre a
thrashing he generally give us!
As previously said, the Seven Stars is a Small
and friendly club, but it is also a generous club in that a Pairs Competition is
held annually, and has been for the past 10 years, in aid of differing
charities.
Hundreds..... nay, thousands of pounds have been raised for various charities in
the past such as the Air Ambulance, MacMillan Cancer Fund, Headway, British
Heart Foundation, Kingstone Surgery, St Michael's Hospice.....etc. Details
of this year's event will be published soon.

PRESIDENT
- Mike
Don't see too much of
Mike as he's still laid-up.
We miss his cheery
banter and cannot wait
for him to return to the
team as it is his turn to
buy the drinks.
Yes
Mike, we do keep
records!

CHAIRMAN
Andy
To
look at
Andy, you'd think he'd just been released from Parkhurst.
A
nasty piece of work if ever there was one. Never buys a drink, never offers a fag,
rubbish at boules and most agree, he's just a big girls blouse!

TREASURER
- Tom
Our new Treasurer who frankly you wouldn't trust with your grannies
pension book.
Plays his cards and the
clubs finances very
close to his chest.
A mathematical retard, he
can only count to 3 and then he has to use his fingers.
Thus loses all his boule
matches 13 to 3.

|
Danny.
Impossible
to say anything negative about Danny - but I'll try. Doesn't smoke,
doesn't swear, doesn't chase mucky women - but he's no angel. He
drinks gallons and gallons of beer along with pints and pints of
whisky. He is, after all, married to Shirley....! |
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Shirley.
Very
very dangerous lady. Cross her at your peril.
She's been known to reduce 18 stone, 7 foot men to tears.
Recently celebrated 50 years of marriage to Danny - Shirley received an anniversary
card......
Danny received several thousand messages of sympathy! |

|
|
Helen.
The
good news - Helen is taking a 12 month sabatical from boules.
The bad news - She's promised to return next year. Helen is spending
most of this year 'touring' around in a desperate attempt to escape her
creditors.
Hobbies include shop-lifting, mugging, brawling and vomiting on small
children. |

|
|
|
|
 |
|
Jane.
Dont
let that pensive and angelic pose deceive you. Jane can be utterly ruthless if
she doesn't get her own way.
She's been known to strangle dobermans and eat tiny kittens for supper.
Her hero figures are Attilla the Hun, Genghis Khan, Pol Pot and Adolf Hitler. |
|
 |
|
Blair.
Not
as daft as he looks, he has a unique talent for hiding his intellect
well.
His main interest in life is booze, food, booze, food, booze and food -
and in that order.
Not someone you'd like to meet on a dark night.... Let's face it....
not someone you'd like to meet anyway! |

|
|
Graham.
Thinks
he's the bees knees at boules. Others think he's a big petanker.
Graham is our youngest team member so we take it in turn to change his
nappy.
His main hobbies include boule-sniffing, cosh licking, failing at boule and
molesting young ladies. His only claim to fame is that he once fluked a carreaux!

|
CAPTAIN
& SECRETARY Jim.
Born
1972, Jim gained a first at Oxford where he studied boule strategy and
leadership.
Noted for his good looks, his charm, his wit, an easy way with the ladies
and of course, his modesty.
Jim is held in highest esteem by his team and by his many many friends and
aquaintences who never fail to be overawed by his scintillating
personality.
